Independence
SSR maintains strict editorial independence from every brand we cover. No brand pays for coverage, preferential ranking, or "better pros." Our writers and editors do not own stock in any home-security manufacturer, monitoring company, or parent holding firm. Conflicts of interest are disclosed on the article level.
Sourcing
Every review is based on hands-on testing in at least one of our three primary test homes — a 1,200 sq ft apartment, a 2,400 sq ft suburban single-family home, and a 3,800 sq ft rural residence. Equipment is either loaned by the manufacturer (disclosed), purchased at retail (disclosed), or pulled from our archival lab stock. Pricing is verified against the manufacturer's publicly listed checkout page at the time of publish and the last-verified date is displayed on every article.
Monitoring-center testing
We time every monitoring center's dispatch speed in partnership with Sandra B. (retired 33-year 911 dispatcher, Columbus OH) on a dedicated test cell line. Each system is tested at least five times across different times of day (morning, midday, evening, overnight, and weekend). The posted response time is the median of the five tests, with the fastest and slowest annotated in the article footnote.
Corrections

We may earn an affiliate commission when a reader purchases through a link on our site. That commission has zero effect on ranking, rating, or editorial recommendation. When a brand offers us an affiliate commission that another does not, we explicitly ignore that difference in ranking decisions. AI use
SSR does not publish AI-generated articles. We use AI for summarization, transcription of our test notes, and copy-editing assistance only — and every published article is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human on our editorial staff.
