Question by Cavs_Fan23: Is it illegal to put a sign that says “protected by security cameras” in a parking lot when it really isn’t?
I took a tour of Sun Studio in Memphis yesterday, and when I parked it said “Lot is protected by 24 hour surveillance cameras.” Somewhere in Memphis someone stole the license plate off my rental car for some reason, my insurance deductible has to cover it, which will be around 100 dollars.
I called the studio to ask if they can check the cameras, and they said the cameras actually only reveal the first 3 spots in the front of the lot.
I heard from a reliable source from a long time ago that it is fraud to tell people they are protected by cameras when they really aren’t.
Yes but it says they have cameras in there, that sounds like an implication to me.
If they say they do and they don’t, how is that legal?
Well if it isn’t illegal then fine, I was just wondering.
It said in my parking space there were security cameras though.

It says “Lot” is protected. It dosnt say you or your car is protected. Perfectly legal.
