Is my Toyota’s “security” system not supposed to go off if a door is opened from inside while “armed”?

Question by Law: Is my Toyota’s “security” system not supposed to go off if a door is opened from inside while “armed”?
My 2001 Toyota Solara was broken into the other day. They pried the window out a little, then pulled it up off the track over the bumpers. The safelight guy who repaired my window today told me they probably popped the window out, then reached in and unlocked it, then opened the door. I tried it today. I got in, locked the car with the remote, then unlocked it manually and opened the door and the alarm did not go off. Is that normal with a factory stock “security” system? When does the alarm actually go off? (Without me pressing the panic button on the key-fob) Should I invest in a newer, better security system?

Try your test again. Wait about a minute or two in your car. You probably didn’t give the alarm time to arm itself. Most factory alrms take 30 seconds- some one minute. If you perform the test and it still doesn’t work, something is wrong with your alarm. Heck your alarm should’ve gone off. AAA came out to unlock my Toyota Previa and when the guy unlocked my door the alarm went off. Your security system is enough. It has the ignition disabler and other stuff. If a thief wants your car, they will still get it even if you had four alarms on your car. I think it’s fine, but retry your test to be sure.

I need a small, home made “security system”. Ideas?

Question by : I need a small, home made “security system”. Ideas?
My sister is always breaking into my room to steal my clothes. Just today, I found her walking in wearing my dress and my sweater. She has done this many times and I would like to catch her next time (and any time) she does this. I have a few ideas, but I would like someone else’s opinion. Talking to her just does not seem to solve this problem. She’s as thick-headed as an oak. Help please!

Tie a string by the door in your room so when she walks in she trips. Try making a loud noise to!!!

Q&A: Is it illegal to put a sign that says “protected by security cameras” in a parking lot when it really isn’t?

Question by Cavs_Fan23: Is it illegal to put a sign that says “protected by security cameras” in a parking lot when it really isn’t?
I took a tour of Sun Studio in Memphis yesterday, and when I parked it said “Lot is protected by 24 hour surveillance cameras.” Somewhere in Memphis someone stole the license plate off my rental car for some reason, my insurance deductible has to cover it, which will be around 100 dollars.

I called the studio to ask if they can check the cameras, and they said the cameras actually only reveal the first 3 spots in the front of the lot.

I heard from a reliable source from a long time ago that it is fraud to tell people they are protected by cameras when they really aren’t.
Yes but it says they have cameras in there, that sounds like an implication to me.

If they say they do and they don’t, how is that legal?
Well if it isn’t illegal then fine, I was just wondering.

It said in my parking space there were security cameras though.

It says “Lot” is protected. It dosnt say you or your car is protected. Perfectly legal.
