When your alarm system depends upon traditional telephone lines, your system is only as good as your telephone lines. If your telephone lines go down, your security system is worthless. Be sure to look for a system that does not require a working telephone line to be functional. Telephone lines can go down for a variety of reasons including but certainly not limited to having the phone cables cut by an intruder. This is clearly not a reliable means of providing home security.
