Pensioners ‘put at risk’ by home security costs

“Millions of elderly people are vulnerable because they do not have any basic home security measures in place, according to research by Homewise.

The survey found almost 55 per cent of pensioners – nearly five million people – do not have a burglar alarm at their property.

According to Homewise, more than three million over-65s do not have a security chain on the front door, two million have no outside lighting and 1.5 million pensioners have just a single lock on their front door.”
